The white face has no distinct meaning, except to the warrior who inspired it. Lakota were often believed to be memebers of the Sioux Nation, but were actually not. There were seven councel fires of the Sioux Nation: 1. Brule 2. Oglala 3. Hunkpapa 4. Miniconjon 5. Sans Arcs 6. Two Kettles 7. Blackfoot Sioux (not to be confused with the Blackfoot Tribe of Indians). Lakota traded a lot with the Sioux. Later they began inter-marrying. They began to share ceremony with the Blackfoot and aided them in battle at times. Soon they were seen as Sioux. The Sioux desired the great trade goods the Lakota had. The Lakota appreciated the great strength of the Sioux, which meant protection for them. You could almost see them as cousins of the Sioux. The geometric design behind the Lakota is a copy of a geometric Lakota design found from the mid-1800's. It is accurate in size, shape, and color. |
